Cutting through over-saturation by going directly to the source

Fashion is undoubtedly one of the planet’s biggest polluters and companies and consumers alike are searching for solutions that go beyond sustainability being a buzzword. Digital second-hand marketplaces are becoming increasingly prolific; all with a vision to shift how we shop and reduce fashion’s footprint.

In a crowded landscape, Depop has always stood apart as a platform that harnesses their community's creativity and pure expression. Aligning philosophies, they approached Futurimpose to leverage the energy of this radical generation- using our inherent knowledge of Gen Z and finding a strong design framework to amplify their perspectives and spark change industry-wide.

FUTUREPROOF is a report by Depop in partnership with global consultancy firm Bain & Company: they carried out extensive qualitative and quantitative research amassing a wide variety of data and perspectives on how brands can future-proof their businesses and authentically serve Gen Z; reflecting their values. Our role was to strategically distill the strongest insights, edit the report, and transform the content into a fluid, editorialised experience presented as a microsite and document.

For many Depop users, the platform represents the means to connect: it’s a space that merges commerce and creativity through exchange, it’s a clean framework that facilitates users’ expression, enabling the community to do the talking. As such, our position was to evolve Depop’s strong building blocks and subtly elevating the UX into a fluid, clean and crucially highly legible experience that never detracts from the communities expression. Intuitive and seamless, we explored familiar digital cues that feel natural to all readers, above all Gen Z. Using dynamic animation to give life to the stats, we landed the key numbers with interaction and flow.

In a landscape where we are constantly fed insights about Gen-Z and sustainability, FUTUREPROOF’s value is about going directly to the source- the change-makers of tomorrow and communicating effortlessly their message in order to establish a legacy that will shape how businesses evolve and act moving forward.
